Leading specials
What card leads determines whether players must follow suit.
Escape, Tigress-as-Escape, or Loot leads
- The trick has no suit until a suited card is played.
- The next suited card played sets the follow suit for remaining players.
- If no suited card is played, see escape/loot resolution in Card ranks.
Loot + all Escapes
If Loot leads and every following card is Escape-like, the Loot player wins the trick.
Mermaid, Pirate, Skull King, Tigress-as-Pirate, Kraken, or Whale leads
- No follow suit — each player may play any legal card.
- Character leads behave like “no suit” tricks for follow purposes.
